James recommends that you avoid starchy carbs in the evening. Your body works better assimilating proteins at the end of the day and while sleeping - so go for lean proteins and choose leafy green veggies for carbs. Casein is also said to work best at night but not all dairy has this , so watch for which do and go for a lower fat option like skim milk or get whey powder. This is also a sleep aid for some people.
