Benefit of Physical Activity
Regular physical activity can help counter the potentially damaging effects of stress on the body and may prevent stress-related illnesses.  Stress from traffic, mobile phones and balancing work/life is so pervasive today that it had become a driving force behind rising healthcare costs. While at the same time, regular exercise and relaxation has been proven to help combat stress and potential illness.

While impossible to eliminate stress from modern life, one can control the effect it has on the mind and body. People with increased levels of anxiety and nervous tension need to develop effective ways of coping with stress.

Wellness
Wellness is a term that has been used more and more over the past ten to fifteen years. It defines as an active process of becoming aware of and making choices towards a more successful existence. It is making choices in your life that promote the healthiest lifestyle possible, but, it is more than simply making healthy decisions for your physical health and safety. It is making choices for your emotional health and overall well-being as well.

In a nutshell, wellness is a way of life. It is a choice to design your lifestyle in order to achieve your highest potential for well-being and health.

According to the World Health Organisation, physical inactivity, tobacco use, and poor diet and nutrition are becoming part of today’s lifestyle, leading to a rapid rise of incidents of diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. In fact, the top seven leading causes of death in Ireland are often directly related to wellness choices. These illnesses include heart disease, cancer, stroke, chronic lower respiratory disease, accidents, diabetes and pneumonia/influenza.

Improving wellness is important because the overall decline of Ireland’s wellness is a direct result of the choices we make. To improve our wellness Irish people must begin to understand how to make wellness choices – every decision leads to future choices. If we decide to make positive conscious choices to improve mental and physical health, we improve our wellness individually and as a society.

Research reveals that better-than-half (54%) clients surveyed state that by participating in holistic treatments regularly, they feel like they have their over all act together. These individuals feel better about them selves and find they are much more capable in their work environment.
